Case Summary

The EEOC's Atlanta district office sued Transportation Solutions, Inc. on September 29, 2004 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. The EEOC's complaint alleged that Transportation violated Title VII and the Equal Pay Act when it discriminated based on sex (female) by paying some of its female employees, including the intervenor who intervened on April 26, 2005, less money than similarly situated male employees. The parties entered into a consent decree on July 12, 2005 which stipulated that Transportation would pay the intervenor $20,000 in damages, implement a discipline procedure for managers who allow sex discrimination based on pay, post and distribute a notice of compliance with Title VII and the EPA, appoint a compliance specialist to ensure compliance with the consent decree, and report compliance efforts and complaints to the EEOC semiannually.
