In September 2005, the EEOC district office in Chicago, Illinois brought this suit against Transportation Solutions in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. The complaint alleged that the defendant refused a deaf job applicant an interview or offer because of his disability in violation of the American with Disabilities Act of 1990.
A consent decree was entered in April 2006. The parties agreed that the defendant would pay the aggrieved party $40,000, refrain from retaliating or discriminating on the basis of disability, post EEO notices, distribute EEO notices, keep records of complaints, provide EEO training to all its staff, and make semiannual reports certifying its compliance with the terms of the decree. The decree was to last for two years. The docket sheet doesn't show any further enforcement took place; the case was presumably closed in 2008.
