In December 1997, the Charlotte District Office of the EEOC brought this suit against Abbott Laboratories, Incorporated in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina. The only document publicly available regarding this case is the docket; therefore, the exact allegations involved are unknown. It appears from the docket that the complaint alleged discrimination on the basis of race, American Indian, in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The parties filed a proposed consent decree in January 1998. After numerous objections to the consent decree were filed by charging parties, the court finally approved the final consent decree in April 1998.
