On August 15, 2002, the Seattle office of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed a lawsuit under Title VII against Medical Management International, Inc., in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington. The EEOC alleged that the defendants had violated the rights of 5 female complainants by subjecting them to a hostile work environment wherein they endured sexual discrimination.

On September 19, 2002, the defendant filed a counterclaim against the EEOC, asking the court to dismiss the claims against them and to order the EEOC to pay their attorneys' fees for the action. On November 12, 2003, the parties entered into a consent decree, which fully settled all claims in this lawsuit. Under the terms of the decree, the defendant agreed to pay $100,000 in non-economic damages for psychic and emotional distress to members of the claimant class. This money would be divided among the claimants by the EEOC. The defendant also agreed to fully expunge the employment records of all claimants of any record of involvement in this lawsuit. Within 120 days of the consent decree, and annually thereafter, the defendant agreed to have all employees undergo 2 hours of training on employment discrimination, including sexual harassment. If the defendant becomes aware of any discriminatory act by an employee, they will report such action to the EEOC. Finally, the defendant agreed to report on their compliance with the requirements of the decree within 6 months of the decree and annually thereafter throughout the life of the consent decree.

On the same day that the parties entered the consent decree, the district court adopted it and dismissed the case.
