In March 2006, the Phoenix Office of the EEOC filed suit in U.S. District Court, District of Colorado, against Colorado Boulevard Motors Inc., dba Mike Shaw Chevrolet, a Denver car dealership. The suit alleged that the defendant violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act. According to the complaint, the dealership had an explicit policy whereby women who submitted to sexual demands were rewarded, and those who did not were punished. The EEOC also alleged that women were routinely harassed and groped, and were sometimes physically assaulted if they refused to acquiesce.
One of the female employees intervened as a plaintiff. An extended series of discovery disputes ensued. In June of 2007, the intervenor plaintiff settled and dismissed her case. In September of 2007, the EEOC settled. The defendant was ordered to pay $12,500, and was also required to implement and post an anti-discrimination policy, and to conduct annual anti-discrimination training for its employees. The decree was to last for 18 months. The docket sheet doesn't show show any further enforcement took place; the case was presumably closed in 2009.
