In September 2000, the Memphis District Office of the EEOC brought this suit against Affiliated Foods Southwest, Inc., d/b/a Thriftway Foods, Inc., in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas. The complaint alleged that the defendant subjected the charging party and other female employees to sexual harassment in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The charging party intervened in the suit in December 2000. In February 2001, the parties settled through a consent decree. The one-year decree contained no injunctive relief but required the defendant to pay a total of $40,000 to be distributed among four claimants.
