In March 2001, the EEOC district office in Denver, Colorado brought this action against the Norgren Company, an international engineering firm, in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado. The EEOC alleged that the defendant violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by discriminating based on sex (female).
After extensive discovery, a failed defense motion for summary judgment, and while an EEOC motion for partial summary judgment was pending, the parties settled the case. A consent decree was entered in August 2004. The defendant paid the aggrieved woman $175,000, agreed to refrain from retaliating and discriminating based on sex, and agreed to provide EEO training to its employees.
The decree was entered in August 2004 and scheduled to last until August 2007. No further docket entries exist, so the case is closed.
