In March 2000, the Washington, D.C. (along with the Atlanta) office of the EEOC brought this class action suit against Star Stainless Screw Company in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. The case settled by entry of a consent decree seven days later.
The consent decree required the defendant to refrain from discrimination, post notice, hold yearly training for managerial and supervisory employees, certify in writing to the EEOC that all management and supervisory personnel have been instructed as to the terms of the decree, report any complaint arising in the Norcross office to the EEOC, and pay a lump sum of $125,000 to affected class members. No other information was made available pertaining to the consent decree or the nature of the suit.
