On May 5, 1993 the United States Department of Justice filed an employment related sexual discrimination lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio against the State of Ohio, Ohio Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, the Lima Correctional Institute, and the Warden of the Lima Correctional Institute. The Ohio Civil Service Employees Association, AFSCME, Local 11, and AFL-CIO attempted to intervene in the case, but the District Court (Judge Joseph P Kinneary Sr.) denied the motion. On December 4, 1993 the case was placed on inactive status until May 31, 1995. The parties jointly moved for dismissal of case on August 18, 1995. The District Court dismissed the case on August 30, 1995.
