Legal Services/Legal Aid
Across the United States, there are hundreds of civil legal aid providers offering free legal services for people with low income. Their largest funder is the Legal Services Corporation (LSC), which funds over a hundred independent nonprofit legal aid programs with more than 800 offices serving every county and territory in the country. LSC Is headed by a bipartisan board of directors whose 11 members are appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate. This category in the Clearinghouse brings together cases litigated by many of these organizations (though no doubt we have missed some).
The below cases represent a special subset of the full Clearinghouse collection.
