Abstract John Does 1-5 v. Terry Stewart' was a hard-fought prison conditions-of-confinement class action lawsuit litigated in the United States District Court for the District of Arizona. Relationships between the parties and their counsel were contentious at times. Nonetheless, the collaborative way in which the case was ultimately resolved offers many insights on how to effectively settle such large-scale prisoner rights cases in a post-PLRA litigation environment.
