Nominated by Dwight D. Eisenhower on June 24, 1954, to a new seat authorized by 68 Stat. 8. Confirmed by the Senate on August 10, 1954, and received commission on August 10, 1954. Served as chief judge, 1960-1967. Assumed senior status on September 21, 1971. Service terminated on October 30, 1973, due to death.
