This strip search case was brought in 1979 in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois against a Zayre Department store and the Village of Forest Park. The plaintiff, represented by private counsel, claimed she was unlawfully detained, arrested and strip searched for alleged shoplifting.

After Plainitff's pendent state claims were dismissed, a jury returned a verdict including $40,000 in damages against Zayre and $10,000 against the City. Both Defendants appealed the district court (Judge Stanley J. Roszkowski) denials of their motions for j.n.o.v. the the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. On October 5, 1982, the appellate court reversed the jury verdict and remanded for a new trial on plaintiff's strip search claim, and her other claims were dismissed. Because the Seventh Circuit Opinion, Iskander v. Village of Forest Park, 690 F. 2d 126 (7th Cir. 1982) is the only document we have for this case, the disposition on remand is unknown.
