Case Summary

The New York District Office of the EEOC brought this action in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, against Dreyfus Service Corporation. The complaint, filed in September 2002, alleged age discrimination in violation of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act; specifically the charging parties alleged that they were terminated because of their age, 60 and 59. Defendant moved for summary judgment in April 2004 and the motion was granted in March 2005. The EEOC filed a notice of appeal in May 2005 but the appeal was dismissed by stipulation in January 2006.
