In September 2006, the Philadelphia District Office brought this suit against North American Cable Equipment, Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania alleging discrimination on the basis of race in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Specifically, the defendant allegedly subjected the charging party, a Black employee, and a group of similarly situated individuals to a racially hostile work environment consisting of racially offensive comments, jokes, and emails, resulting in the constructive discharge of the charging party. After very little action in the case, the parties appear to have reached a tentative settlement in January 2007. However, they reached a final agreement in March 2007 through a consent decree. We do not have a copy of the decree; therefore, the exact terms of the settlement are unknown.
