Case Summary

The EEOC's San Antonio office filed this suit on May 11, 2001 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas against Regis Corporation. The EEOC's San Antonio office filed this suit on May 11, 2001 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas against Regis Corporation. On behalf of two male complainants, the EEOC alleged that the defendant violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act by subjecting the complainants to sexual harassment and retaliation for complaining about the harassment.

After numerous discovery disputes, the EEOC and defendant reached a settlement agreement in September of 2002. Entry of a consent decree was postponed in order to give the complaints a chance to intervene in the case. One of them did so, and apparently elected not to join in the EEOC's settlement. In November 2002, the consent decree was entered resolving the EEOC's case. The defendant was enjoined from discriminating or retaliating in violation of Title VII, and was required to implement EEO training for its employees. The consent decree did not include monetary relief.

The defendant moved for summary judgment against the intervenor-plaintiff, and in January 2003 the motion was granted.
