In September 1999, the Houston District Office of the EEOC filed this suit against Timco, Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. We do not have a copy of the complaint. However, according to the consent decree, the complaint alleged that the defendant sexually harassed and retaliated against two female employees in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The parties had some discovery disputes before reaching a settlement in July 2000 through a consent decree.
Under the terms of the two-year decree, the defendant agreed to post and distribute a notice of employee rights under Title VII, maintain records of all complaints of sexual harassment or retaliation, provide Title VII training for all employees, and report to the EEOC every six months regarding its compliance with Title VII.
