The San Antonio Office of the EEOC filed this action in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas. The Defendant was Levitz Furniture Company, a furniture retailer. The case involved alleged harassment to the complainant on the basis of national origin (Hispanic), as well as other harassment of employees on the basis of race (Black). The lawsuit was filed in September of 1998 and was eventually resolved by consent decree in February of 1999. The complainant received $2,000, and the company was to provide training for the responsible employee. The duration of the consent decree was one year.
