Case Summary

In September 2000, the Milwaukee District Office of the EEOC filed suit in U.S. District Court, Northern District of Iowa, against American Home Products Corporation, alleging sexual harassment and retaliation in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.

Several private plaintiffs intervened in the case, which was subsequently consolidated with another case brought by a private party (3:00-cv-03046). Motions by both the defendant and the intervening plaintiffs for summary judgment were denied, and the case was resolved by a consent decree in March of 2002. The defendant agreed to pay a total of $487,500 and to revise its complaint procedures for allegations of sexual harassment. We do not have the complaint or the consent decree in this case so the information comes from an EEOC annual report.
