The Detroit Office of the EEOC brought this suit against Burger King and E.J. Sacco, Incorporated in August 1998 in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan (Detroit). Since only the docket is available there is no information about the allegations made by the EEOC. The court terminated Burger King as a defendant in November 1998. In August 1999, the court granted E.J. Sacco's motion for summary judgment. In July 2000, the court granted E.J. Sacco's motion for Rule 11 sanctions. After denying the EEOC's motion for reconsideration regarding interest on the judgment in January 2001, the EEOC filed an appeal of the orders granting Rule 11 sanctions and denying reconsideration regarding interest on the judgment in March 2001. The appeal was dismissed in July 2001.
