Case Summary

The Boston office of the EEOC brought this action in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, against Keane, Inc., a national information technology firm. The complaint, filed in September 2000, alleged race discrimination in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Specifically, the complaint alleged that the charging party was subjected to racial harassment, was treated unequally in project assignments and client development, was retaliated against and was subject to constructive discharge.

In January 2001 the case was referred to mediation and in April 2001 the parties settled. A consent decree was entered against Defendant in May 2002. Keane agreed to pay $377,656 to former employees as well as their counsel. The consent decree also included provisions for EEO training, and posting of a revised non-discrimination notice.
