The EEOC's Birmingham office filed this suit on October 25, 2002 in the Northern District of Alabama, Southern Division. The EEOC alleged that 17 male employees at defendant Kraft Foods of North America, Inc.'s Birmingham location were subjected to a hostile work environment created by the actions and remarks of a supervisor. The complainants were represented by private counsel in communications with the defendant before the EEOC filed the suit, but none of the complainants intervened in the suit.
On June 10, 2003 the parties filed a joint motion entering the consent decree. The consent decree was granted on June 16, 2003.
The consent decree explained that the defendant paid the complainants undisclosed amounts of money as well as attorney's fees. The defendant also agreed to provide separate training sessions for the supervisory and non-supervisory employees at its Birmingham office.
