The EEOC's Charlotte office filed this suit on June 22, 2001 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina, Statesville Division. The complaint alleged that defendant Mister Omelet of America, Inc. violated Title VII by creating a hostile work environment for three female employees because of their gender and retaliating against those employees and four others for opposing the unlawful practice. In August 2002 the case was settled and a consent decree was entered. The defendant agreed to pay the complainants a total of $1,000. The defendant also agreed, if it ever resumed business, to provide training for its employees, report to the EEOC all complaints of harassment, and allow the EEOC access to its premises, employees, and records.
