In early April 1997, the Milwaukee District Office of the EEOC brought this suit against Management Recruiters International, Inc., d/b/a Sales Consultants of Minneapolis, in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota. We do not have a copy of the complaint; therefore, the exact allegations involved are unknown. It appears from an EEOC press release that the complaint alleged that the defendant subjected female employees to a sexually hostile work environment in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The parties settled immediately, entering into a settlement agreement on the same day that the complaint was filed. The agreement required the defendant to pay $1.3 million to be distributed among eighteen individuals, send letters of apology to each one, post notice of their policy prohibiting sexual harassment, as well as provide sexual harassment training to all managers.
