The EEOC's Chicago office brought this suit in November 1999 in U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois, against Ingersoll International and related corporate entities. The complaint is unavailable.

The case was consolidated with a private suit brought by private plaintiffs (case #3:99-cv-50362, EE-IL-0292). In July 2001 a consent decree was entered, but the plaintiffs struggled to enforce it, until finally the defendants filed for bankruptcy in June 2003.
