In September 1999, the EEOC district office in Denver, Colorado brought this suit against Burt Chevrolet, Inc., a regional automobile dealership, and LGC Management, Inc., in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado. Although the complaint is unavailable, the EEOC released a statement which contained allegations of sex discrimination violations of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Specifically, 10 salesmen alleged that several male manages subjected them to severe and repeated sexual harassment. After a protracted series of various discovery motions, motions for summary judgment, and protective orders, the parties entered a consent decree in August 2000. Although the consent decree is not available, the EEOC press-release states the 10 aggrieved salesmen received a class settlement for $500,000 and that Burt Chevrolet would provide EEO training for three years from the date of the consent decree.
