The EEOC's Detroit office filed this suit on July 31, 2001 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, Detroit Division. The EEOC alleged that defendant Advantage Staffing violated Title VII by requiring the complainant to cater to customers' discriminatory preferences and discharging her in retaliation for complaining of the practice. The complainant intervened in the suit. The defendant and the complainants both filed discovery motions. The parties settled by consent decree on August 22, 2002. The defendant agreed to pay the complainant $60,000 in monetary relief, reinstate her in her position and provide her a positive job reference. The defendant also agreed to provide training for its employees and post notice of EEO rights.
