In December 1998, the EEOC district office in San Antonio, Texas brought this suit against Tenet Healthcare, LTD, doing business as Brown Medical Center, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. The complaint is currently unavailable. The consent decree states that seven named female employees claimed that a manager in the Food and Nutrition Services Department in the defendant's establishment verbally abused, touched, and made sexual advances toward them.
A consent decree was entered in January 2000. In the consent decree, the parties agree that the defendant would pay the female employees a total of $765,000, refrain from discriminating on the basis of sex, provide EEO training for all of its staff, and post EEO notices.
