Case Summary

In June 1997, the EEOC district office in Milwaukee, Wisconsin brought this suit against Lennox Industries, Inc. and Lennox International, Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota. The complaint is currently unavailable. The parties settled in May 1998. A consent decree was entered in which the defendants had to pay a total of $6.2 million dollars, post anti-discrimination notices, provide all managers and supervisors who deal with employment decisions training on the ADEA, create an internal review process to review the resignation, retirement, demotion, termination, or other reason of departure of any district sales manager to make sure age wasn't a factor, and audit all personnel records, evaluation forms, human resources planning documents, and other employment documents to ensure that age related information wasn't improperly used in employment decisions.
