In September 2006, the San Francisco office of the EEOC brought this Title VII suit against Southwest Airlines Co. in the U.S. District Court for the California Northern District. The complaint alleged that the defendant subject the charging parties (and others similarly situated) to a hostile work environment based on her sex. After mediation, the case settled by entry of a consent decree in March 2007.
The one year consent decree includes an anti-harassment provision, anti-retaliation provision, payment of $100,000 to the charging parties, enhancement of harassment policy, two hours of harassment and retaliation training for managers, supervisor accountability, expungement of records, and reports to the EEOC on the training and any sexual harassment complaints. The docket sheet does not show any further enforcement took place; the case was presumably closed in 2008.
