In September 2006, the Saint Louis District Office and Kansas City Area Office of the EEOC filed this lawsuit against Jolet II, Inc., doing business as Thompson Care Center, in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri alleging discrimination on the basis of gender in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Specifically, the complaint alleged the defendant subjected the complaining parties to sexual harassment based on their gender, female, and retaliated against some of them for opposing this practice through constructive discharge. Following an unsuccessful motion for default by the EEOC, the parties settled the lawsuit through a consent decree in October 2007.

The three-year decree, containing anti-discrimination and retaliation language, required the defendant to: report complaints and make other compliance reports, allow the EEOC access for monitoring, post and distribute notice of employee rights, provide EEO training, and pay $10,000 to be distributed among five complaining parties. The docket sheet does not show any further enforcement; the case was presumably closed in 2010.
