The EEOC's Houston office filed this suit on September 28, 2001 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, Houston Division. The complaint alleged that defendant Project Development Group Inc violated Title VII by discharging two female asbestos removers because of their sex. The defendant answered two months after filing, on November 30, 2001. Within a year of filing, the parties reached a settlement and filed a proposed consent decree on August 20, 2002. The court approved the decree on August 26, 2002. The defendant agreed to pay the defendants $23,500 each, expunge their employment records and provide them with neutral references. The defendant also agreed to provide training for its employees, post notice of EEO rights, and advise the institutions from which it recruits "about its desire to hire qualified male and female applicants for the position of asbestos remover."
