In September 2004 the San Francisco, CA office of the EEOC brought this Title VII case alleging that Micro Pacific Development (MPD), a corporation that operates upscale hotels on the island of Saipan, subjected female kitchen workers to sexual harassment at the Saipan Grand Hotel. The case was resolved by the entry of a consent decree in December 2005. After the EEOC filed suit, MPD sold the Saipan Grand Hotel to Asia Pacific Hotels, Inc., which participated in the settlement talks and signed the decree as MPD's successor.
Under the three-year consent decree, MPD will pay $175,000.00 in compensatory damages to the charging party and three other women. The defendant is required to disseminate its anti-discrimination policies to all employees, provide annual EEO training to all employees, and is prohibited from employing the alleged harasser. The docket sheet doesn't show any further enforcement took place; the case was presumably closed in 2008.
