In August 1998, the San Antonio office of the EEOC filed this case against Lux Bakery, Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas on behalf of women alleging that the defendant corporation had sexually harassed and constructively discharged them. Filed under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, this case had limited action on the record before the parties agreed to the terms of a consent decree in October 1999. The consent decree awarded monies to the individual women complainants and created an injunction against Lux Bakery. Lux Bakery was enjoined from unlawfully discriminating on the basis of sex and ordered to post equal employment opportunity literature at its store and create a mandatory equal employment opportunity training program for its managers.
