The San Francisco District Office of the EEOC brought this action in the U.S. District Court for the District of the Northern Mariana Islands, against Sako Corporation. The complaint was filed in September 2004 and in April 2005 a default judgment was entered against Sako Corporation. We do not have a copy of the complaint or the default judgment. However, a press release indicates that the EEOC alleged that Sako discriminated based on national origin in violation of Title VII, by firing Filipino, Thai, and Bangladeshi workers and replacing them with Chinese workers. The press release also indicates that the default judgment requires Sako to pay a total of $1,087,337.
