In August 2000, the San Francisco office of the EEOC brought this suit against Safeway Stores, Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. The claimant intervened in the EEOC's suit in June 2001. After the claimant filed a motion to compel discovery and to receive attorney's fees, the EEOC settled with the defendant by entry of a consent decree. After the EEOC terminated itself from the suit, the court granted in part and denied in part the claimant's discovery motion, and awarded the claimant attorney's fees. After the claimant filed another discovery motion, the claimant filed several motions for award of attorney's fees, and two motions for compliance with the court order against the defendant. In December 2002, the defendant filed a motion for summary judgment (or, in the alternative, a motion for partial summary judgment) that the court granted in part and denied in part in January 2003. The claimant filed a final discovery motion in April 2003, but the case settled, and the court dismissed the case in June 2003. No information was made available pertaining to the nature of the suit or the consent decree/settlement.
