The Houston district office of the EEOC brought this suit against Central American Life Insurance Co., an insurance company, in August of 2006, in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana. The complaint alleged that, in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights act of 1964, an insurance agent sexually harassed a female employee. The company allegedly refused to act on her complaints and refused to transfer her to another location so that she could escape the harassment. The female employee was allegedly fired in retaliation for her complaint. The complainant intervened in December of 2006. The parties settled the case in December of 2007 by entry of a consent decree.

The decree required Central American to comply with Title VII in its employment practices. It also required Central American to pay $35,000.00 to complainant. Central American was required to report on its compliance status every six months to the EEOC, and to keep records to provide the EEOC on request in the event of any complaint. Additionally, Central American was required to provide annual Title VII anti-harassment training to its employees, to post an EEOC poster, and to revise, post, and distribute its Non-Harassment policy. The policy was required to include contacts that employees could use to make confidential harassment complaints.

The terms of the agreement were to run for 2 years. The docket sheet does not show any further enforcement took place; the case was presumably closed in 2009.
