In September 2002, the EEOC district office in Detroit, Michigan brought this suit against the Central Corporate Credit Union in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. The complaint alleged that the defendant violated the Americans with Disabilities Act when it failed to accommodate and discharged an employee with cervical spondylosis.
Four days after the initial complaint was filed, the defendant filed a proposed settlement agreement. In October 2002 the court approved the settlement agreement and the case was dismissed. The defendant agreed to pay the charging party $20,000, to comply with the ADA, and to conduct an ADA training program for the benefit of its employees.
