In August 2003, the Philadelphia office of the EEOC brought this Title VII suit against Parmalat Bakery Division of Parmalat North America in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. The complaint alleged that the defendant discriminated against the claimant by subjecting her to a hostile work environment (because of her sex), retaliation for her complaint, and constructive discharge. The claimant intervened in the EEOC's suit. The case settled by entry of a consent decree in March 2004.
The consent decree required the defendant to refrain from discrimination and retaliation; pay the claimant $300,000 in damages; post notice; and provide Title VII training for all of its managers, supervisors, and employees.
