In July 1997, the EEOC district office in Birmingham, Alabama brought this suit against the Home Cable Concepts, Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama. The EEOC alleged that the defendant violated the Americans with Disabilities Act by failing to accommodate and subsequently terminating an employee with a disability.
In February of 1999, the case was resolved via a stipulated judgment. The defendant agreed to pay the former employee $1,500 and to refrain from retaliating against anyone who participated in this lawsuit.
