In September 1999, the EEOC district office in San Antonio, Texas brought this suit against the Retama Park Management Company in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas. Although the complaint is unavailable, the consent decree states that a female alleged that the defendant violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 when it discriminated against her because of her sex. After only cursory discovery, the parties settled and a consent decree was entered in March 2000.
In the consent decree, the parties agreed that the defendant would pay the female $3,000. No fees or costs were awarded.
