The EEOC's Milwaukee district office sued Stratasoft, Inc. on November 14, 2003 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota. The EEOC alleged that the defendant violated Title VII when it discriminated based on sex (female) by creating a hostile work environment for the complainant and retaliating against her for her complaint. The parties entered into a consent decree on November 20, 2003, which stipulated that the defendant would pay the complainant $130,000 in damages, costs, and fees; post a notice of compliance with Title VII; provide Title VII training to its managers and supervisors; allow the EEOC to attend training sessions and investigate compliance with the consent decree; draft and distribute a non-discrimination policy and complaint policy; record complaints of harassment made to managers and supervisors, and report complaints of sex discrimination to the EEOC semiannually.
