In February 1999, the EEOC district office in San Antonio, Texas brought this suit against the Insignia Residential Group in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas. Although the complaint is currently unavailable, the consent decree states the two males alleged the the defendant unlawfully discriminated against them on the basis of race in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Shortly after the defendant filed its initial answer and the case was reassigned to a new judge, the parties settled and a consent decree was entered in January 2000. The consent decree stated that the two males would each receive $5,000. No fees or costs were awarded.
