The EEOC's Houston district office sued Prime Placement, Inc. and East Texas Temporaries, Inc. on June 25, 1999 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. The EEOC's complaint alleged that the defendant violated Title VII when it discriminated based on sex by failing to refer a female employee for an occupation it considered a "man's job." The parties entered into a consent decree on May 12, 2000, which stipulated that the defendant would pay the complainant $3,000 in damages, post a notice of compliance with Title VII, maintain thorough records of its business dealings, allow the EEOC to inspect these records and interview employees, and advertise that the defendant is an EEO employer.
