The Philadelphia district office of the EEOC brought this suit against Merck & Company, Inc in September 2001 in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. The nature of the allegations is not known because the complaint is unavailable. Apparently after the parties met in a settlement conference, they reached a tentative agreement in April 2002 and the action was dismissed as settled. It appears that there was some difficulty reducing the agreement to writing, but the parties agreed on a consent decree. We do not have a copy of that decree, but it was evidently entered in June 2002.
