The EEOC's Denver district office sued Grand Auto, Inc. on September 24, 1999 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado. The EEOC's complaint is unavailable, however the summary of the consent decree from the docket, entered on May 22, 2000, implies that the EEOC alleged that Grand Auto violated Title VII when it discriminated against an employee based on sex (female) due to her pregnancy. The settlement agreement stipulated that Grand Auto would pay the complainant $21,000 in damages, implement and distribute a pregnancy leave program, provide a training program on pregnancy discrimination, and report semiannually to the EEOC.
