EEOC's San Francisco, CA office filed this lawsuit based on Title VII and the Equal Pay Act against the defendant, Calpine Corporation. The case was filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California (San Francisco) on 06/17/2004. EEOC alleged on behalf of a female employee at defendant's Middletown, CA facility that she was subject to less pay than her male counterparts for doing substantially same work. The complainant did not intervene in the lawsuit or file a separate lawsuit.
The defendant requested Early Neutral Evaluation in December, 2004. The parties settled prior to the scheduled ENE session and the case was voluntarily dismissed on 03/23/2005. It is unknown what type of relief was obtained on behalf of EEOC and the individual complainant.
