Case Summary

The EEOC's Birmingham district office filed suit against Century Chevrolet-Geo, Inc., a national auto manufacturer, on October 31, 1996 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama. The EEOC's complaint is unavailable; however the EEOC's causes of action are listed in the summary judgment motion Century filed in November 1997. The EEOC alleged that Century violated the Age Discrimination in Employment Act when it failed to promote one of its employees over a younger individual. The court denied the motion for summary judgment in March 1998. The parties settled outside of court and the case was dismissed on January 14, 1999.
