Case Summary

In September 2006, the EEOC's Chicago District Office filed this suit against Foresight International in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois alleging violation of Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 ("ADA") by terminating the charging party, a qualified male employee, because he was deaf. A settlement conference was held in March 2007, and the parties settled through a consent decree later that month. The eighteen-month decree contained non-discrimination and non-retaliation clauses and required the defendant to: post EEOC provided notices in the workplace, maintain records of every disability compliant, develop and distribute an ADA policy, provide ADA training for all employees, provide written reports to the EEOC semi-annually, and pay $39,000 in damages. The decree was to last for 18 months. The docket sheet doesn't show any further enforcement took place; the case was presumably closed in 2008.
