The EEOC's Atlanta district office filed suit against L.A. Waters Furniture Company on June 27, 2003 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Georgia. The EEOC's complaint alleged that Waters violated Title VII when it discriminated against the intervenor employee, who intervened on August 11, 2003, based on sex (female) by fostering an environment in which she was sexually harassed and retaliated against her when she complained about her treatment. In March 2004, Waters filed a motion for summary judgment, which was never resolved. On April 8, 2004, the parties settled and the consent decree was placed under seal.
